The Sokoto Red Breed
The Sokoto Red, also called the Maradi or Red Sokoto, is prized across northern Nigeria for its skin quality and fast growth. Tanners and livestock traders both know the value of a well-raised Sokoto Red.
Growth Rate
With proper nutrition and health management:
- Kids reach 10-12 kg by 3 months
- Mature males average 25-35 kg at 12-18 months
- Does reach reproductive age faster than most breeds
Market Pricing
Sokoto Red bucks in good condition sell at ₦60,000-₦100,000 depending on age and weight. Does typically range ₦50,000-₦75,000. Animals sourced from known farms with proper vaccination records command the higher end of the range.
Our Stock
At Korau Integrated Farm, our Sokoto Reds are raised on a combination of natural grazing and supplemental feed during dry season. We do not rush sales — animals go to market when they are ready.
